Preschool

  • It’s time to play! Learning happens through play and active exploration in an environment that is rich in materials and opportunities to converse, socialize, work, play and negotiate with others. All children bring assets to the learning environment based on their unique qualities as individuals as well as their culture and family life. And all children have varying strengths, interests, learning styles and needs. In short, how we teach is determined by who we teach. We promote a child’s optimal development and learning through a strengths-based and individualized approach to joyful, engaged learning.
  • It’s time to learn! The classroom is planned to encourage curiosity, exploration and problem solving in an atmosphere of warmth, affection and respect for each child. The curriculum is emergent, responsive, serendipitous and open-ended. While observing for developmental milestone markers each teacher is planning next steps, engaging each learner and promoting language development in ongoing learning cycles. You are their first teacher. The carefully curated environment, aligned to MSDE’s early learning standards, is what we refer to as their “3rd teacher.”
